Avalanche Tools Pockets

Quick acccess to avy tools

Designed for quick and efficient access, the LF 30L prioritizes easy retrieval of avalanche tools. The probe can be accessed without removing the pack, enabling faster rescues and smoother snow studies. The shovel is accessible by dropping one shoulder strap, with the pocket accommodating shovels up to 29 cm wide and most large handles. By positioning the probe and shovel handle on the side panels, the pack optimizes space and shifts weight closer to your center of mass.

Materials & Construction

Built like a tank

The LF 30L features Ultra 400TX fabric with UHMWPE (known as Dyneema), offering exceptional strength, tear resistance, and abrasion resistance. The cinch top uses 210d nylon with UHMWPE ripstop, while the rolltop features 50d nylon ripstop with UHMWPE cross-ply. The updated back panel is lighter, more durable, stiffer, and more breathable, with a molded composite insert and anti-bulge ribs for improved comfort and shape retention. A removable 80g aluminum frame distributes weight efficiently and is easy to install.

The LF 30L features a secure, integrated helmet carry that eliminates the risk of losing strap-on systems and allows crampons to be stored inside your helmet. Positioned high, it avoids interference with the diagonal ski carry and keeps the pack flat when set down. The no-snag ice tool carry fully encloses tool picks to prevent snags or loss, with independent buckles and easy axe access without removing the pack. The modular ski/board carry offers three diagonal positions, including skimo carry, plus A-frame and vertical snowboard carry for versatility.

The LF 30L is designed for efficient mountain travel, featuring back panel access that allows full entry to the main compartment, regardless of how skis are carried—an essential for any backcountry ski pack. A front stash pocket with drainage separates wet gear like skins from dry items, ensuring organized transitions without zippers. Additionally, a top access zipper provides quick entry to the main compartment, perfect for stashing layers without interference from the helmet carry.
